COMMERCIAL PROPERTY COMPANY (INTERNATIONAL)
CLS Holdings, a FTSE 100 company with owned and managed commercial properties, across Europe aspired to unlock the potential of their landscapes for nature and ecosystem services for their UK portfolio. They set ambitious objectives, including rewilding 10% of grassland areas, year-on-year biodiversity improvement, enhancing landscapes for climate resilience, and reducing the environmental impacts of their supply chain, such as their carbon footprint. The Green Partnership collaborated with them to drive strategic change and achieve these goals.
Our project commenced with a comprehensive assessment of the existing landscapes. Baseline surveys were conducted to understand the current state of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Management planning and specification design were developed to guide the transformation process. This phase laid the foundation for the changes to come.
The heart of the project lay in a procurement exercise that would shape the future of estate stewardship. This exercise, designed and led by The Green Partnership, involved the scrutiny, selection and mobilisation of several nature-focused landscape management companies.
These companies will work in partnership with CLS and ourselves to safeguarded the estates for measurable gains in biodiversity and eco-system services, and enhance the experience for tenants.
In summary, our partnership with CLS demonstrates the transformative power of strategic change and innovative procurement in achieving ambitious sustainability goals. By reimagining their landscapes and stewardship, CLS are not only benefitting nature but also improving the experience for their tenants and engaged with the community, all while reducing their environmental impact.
